Facilities

To perform small animal fracture and joint surgeries, specific and specialized instrumentation are required. Our OT is equipped with specialized orthopaedic instrumentation to handle complex cases. Electrocautery (to reduce blood loss) and suction will be used. All surgeries will be done under gas anaesthesia and will be monitored continuously. Pre and post-operative radiographic evaluation will be performed. Post-operative care will be provided.

Radiographic evalution of hip dysplasia

Early radiographic diagnosis of hip dysplasia is performed using a specially devised equipment. This procedure will facilitate instituting early corrective measures and managing the condition throughout life. Puppies can be screened as early as 16 weeks and a surgical procedure called juvenile pubic symphysiodesis will be performed to manage the condition.

Ayyappan has been actively performing small animal orthopaedic and neuro surgeries since the last 30 years and is a consultant surgeon for many major veterinary hospitals in India.

Orthopaedic consults begin with lameness evaluation and are done to evaluate specific and non specific lameness in dogs and cats to obtain a definitive diagnosis and to propose a comprehensive treatment plan. Evaluation involves physical examination, gait evaluation, x rays and lab tests. In certain cases, CT and MRI procedures are advocated.
